About Boy Scouts: Scouting provides a safe, fun learning environment where the young men (age 11 to 18 years old) learn leadership skills, by not only planning the troop's monthly high outdoor adventures, but leading the troop's weekly meetings.  In addition to leadership, the Boy Scouts requires the scouts to learn many skills not only associated with outdoor camping, but items such as first aid, emergency praparedness along with merit badges such as archery, backpacking, canoeing, cycling, fishing, geology, public speaking, and reptile study.  There are more than 120 badges the scout can work on.

Major Events: Troop 96's 2010 weekly summer camp was not the typical camping at the scout reserve.  It was a one week trip to New York City via Amtrack.  They were able to see many of the city sights and local areas, e.g. museums, Ground Zero, Empire State Building, UN, private tour of the NBC Today Show, NYU, Greenwich Village, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Chinatown, Little Italy and much more.  In 2011, the troop camped at a Boy Scout Campground where they earned many merit badges, such as Sailing, Motor Boating, India Lore, Leather Working and much more.
